Story:

Following the legacy of his father, Arun Katyal (played by Sidharth Malhotra) joins the ‘Yodha Task Force’ as a commando. Arun is quite aggressive in his actions, and sometimes even violate rules. His wife Priyamvada (played by Raashi Khanna) is also a Central Government employee. During a previous mission, Arun’s actions led to the  murder of a nuclear scientist Anuj Nair. As a result, Arun is suspended and ‘Yodha Task Force’ is disolved. After a few years, off-duty Arun finds himself aboard a highjacked flight. This highjacking happens while India-Pakistan high level meetings are on, and this incident can potentially derail the talks and lead to disastrous consequences. However, this time Arun is the suspect as per his former colleagues and the government officials. They fear that it is Arun who has orchestrated the hijack as a retribution for his humiliation. Is he really a traitor or his presence in that highjacked plane is just a co-incident – to find this out, you should watch the movie.

Strength:

The main strength of ‘Yodha’ is its storyline – with its abundant twists and turns, complemented by intense action scenes choreographed by Craig Macrae. Debutant directors Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha have managed the tough scenes very well.

Sidharth Malhotra has unleashed his inner action hero in absolute credible manner.  Apart from action scenes, his acting in the emotional scenes is also praiseworthy. With her subtle act, Raashii Khanna  shines well as Priyamvada. Disha Patani is playing the role of an air-hostess of the highjacked plane. However, her transformation from an on-duty air-hostess to something else(watch the movie to know this), is stunning.

Apart from these key actor, Ronit Roy and Sunny Hinduja have also done well in their respective characters.

Weakness:

Though, the story moves quite fast at the first half, the second half is relatively less gripping. With better editing, the movie could have been presented in less duration ( the runtime is 130 minutes). Though the background score is effective, the songs are not so catchy.

Conclusion:

Though the plot has nothing to do with any real life incident, yet it will evoke an emotion of patriotism in the audience. The story is such that it keeps you hooked till the climax. In many action scenes, it puts you at the edge of your seats.

On the whole, Yodha is a commercial entertainer filled with twists and turns, action-packed sequences and impressive star performances. Don’t miss this high-flying action thriller.
